Know the Signs - Save a Life

Suicide Prevention Coalition

The Coalition is a division of NAMI (the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill) of Wayne & Holmes Counties. The Coalition is made up of community volunteers who are concerned about reducing the number of suicides and attempts in both counties.

Each county has its own work group that citizens can join to work on educational activities in for our local suicide prevention plan. These include:

  • Public awareness, and marketing information about depression and suicide.

  • Training of key gatekeepers like teachers, clergy, doctors and police, to recognize the warning signs of major depression and suicide.

  • Development of programs that address local need such as a survivors support group for those who lose a loved one to suicide.
